Westminster Abbey Library, Muniments Room & Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Galleries: Excursion

April 12, 2019: -

Tim Connell promoted this event as follows:

"A visit to Westminster Abbey to visit the Library, Muniments Room and (by special arrangement) the new Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Galleries

"Westminster Abbey Library contains documents and treasures going back a thousand years. The Muniments Room is actually a balcony overlooking Poets’ Corner and has quite remarkable views. It contains furnishings going back to the Norman Conquest and memorabilia of kings such as Richard II.

"The Galleries occupy the eastern triforium (dating from around 1250) and provides further magnificent views of the floor of the Abbey and out to the Palace of Westminster. It contains over 300 items of interest, ranging from Domesday Book to Henry V’s jousting helmet. It comprises four sections: the building of the Abbey, worship and daily life; Abbey and Monarchy (including death masks and effigies) and the Abbey and National Memory."
