Robin Wilson's range of subjects and inimitable lecture style is well known to members.
On this occasion he covered the entire history of mathematics and philately in one hour, illustrated by a mere 200 stamps from around the world.
In addition, Robin brought along his exhibition of some 250 stamps on a mathematical theme, complete with historical commentary.
The RPSL was an ideal place for such a stemplfest! It was founded in 1869 and received the royal title in 1906 from King Edward VII (no mean stamp collector himself). Apart from its own collections the RPSL houses a library and a museum. It has also produced The Philatelist since 1892.
15 Abchurch Lane was also of interest to Gresham Society members, as it housed the Gresham Club from 1843 to 1915 and includes a memorial to those members who fell in the Great War.
